What we collect, and why.
Ceisteanna is a small, independently run quiz. This page explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to have it removed. It is written in plain language rather than formal legal drafting — see the note at the bottom.
What we collect
Email address — if you sign up for new-edition alerts, or if you register a player account. This is the only piece of information we ask for directly.
Anonymous quiz results — which questions you got right or wrong, and your star rating of an edition, are stored against a random identifier generated in your browser, not against your name or email. We use this only in aggregate, to see which questions were too hard or too easy and to improve the quiz.
Scores and a display name — only if you register a player account, so your scores can appear on the leaderboard. Playing without an account keeps your scores on your own device only.
Cookies— none. If we ever add site analytics, it will stay cookie-free and won't track you across other sites, which is also why there's no cookie banner here.
Why, and for how long
We collect your email address because you asked us to email you — that's the legal basis (consent), and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe. We keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Anonymous per-question results aren't personal data in any meaningful sense — nobody on our side can connect a random browser identifier back to a person — so we keep this indefinitely to track question difficulty over time.
Account data (email, display name, scores) is kept for as long as your account exists.
Your choices
Unsubscribe from emails any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send. To delete your account, your scores, or ask what we hold about a specific email address, contact us — see below. We'll action a deletion request within a reasonable time and confirm once it's done.
